Friday blues

Weak and low on energy? Here are some tips to bring back the smile and start enjoying the weekend.

There are many reasons for waking up feeling a bit blue, even if it’s the most awaited day of the week. This Friday found me in low spirits. I had my regular cup of coffee, knowing that it always makes me feel better, but nothing happened. So, I did what was only natural to do: had another one! And still waiting for the good feelings to kick in. Anyway, I don’t really have a reason to be bummed, but I have lots of reasons to be happy and grateful. Therefore, I thought of dedicating this day to some self-care.

With all that caffeine in my system, my body had the energy, but my mind didn’t. What perfect way to make good use of this electrical charge in my body, but exercise? It is well proven that moving your body improves mental health, reduces anxiety, depression, and all that is associated with a low or negative mood. Dancing is a great way of lifting up the spirits and, I think, you should do it even when you don’t feel like it. Actually, do it especially when you don’t feel like it. Give it a try! Laugh in life’s face! Or dance, in this case.

Reducing stress should always be a top priority. Take some time alone, do something just for yourself. Selfishness has its own benefits at times. Cocoon yourself in bed, have some comfort food, and watch a movie. I’m definitely doing this today. I’ll clear my mind of any thoughts or worries, and give myself some space to relax.

It’s Friday, it’s cold outside, but this creates the perfect day for wrapping yourself like a burrito and enjoying the coziness of the house. Lit some candles, and incense sticks, leave the rush of the week behind, and slow everything down. Start with your breath.

It is nearly the weekend. This is your own time. This is your own life. Make it beautiful.

    Well, if you followed the news, they are getting ready for the next round of covid hysteria, new variant in S. Africa. Enough to depress anyone. They say the vaccines probably won’t work, but their remedy will be to mandate everybody unvaccinated and keep them ostracized. When what they need is antibody treatment, anti-virals and other therapeutics. I always thought that was the way out of this.. Enough to depress anybody how they are treating people around the world. Put some faith in a higher power, I guess. And say no. I’m having my second cup of coffee here and hoping to get out of the slump myself. Today is our big dinner and tomorrow my dad’s big party, so need to get happy. Have a good weekend.

      Aw, I’m so tired of this pandemic situation. We are under curfew, any celebration has to end at 9pm, even on New Year’s Eve! What’s New Year’s Eve without the midnight fireworks?? and a lot of other restrictions and it doesn’t matter if you are vaccinated or not. Someone I know wasn’t allowed to enter a store because she didn’t have the second dose of vaccine yet. Anyhow… we should do whatever we can to keep us sane and happy. Have fun these days with your family. They are the most important things in life. As long as we have each other we can get through anything.
