Can you feel the warmth in your hand, the fragrance coming out of the steaming cup? Can you feel the rich aroma touching your lips, your tongue, going down your entire being, like the sweetest kiss you’ve ever had?
Good morning, world! It is that time of the week again. Another start, another cup of coffee!
Writing and coffee
I’m sure that through every writer’s body there’s more coffee than blood running down their veins. Balzac couldn’t have said it better:
Were it not for coffee, one could not write,
which is to say, one could not live.
Jean Jacques Rousseau, also, put it beautifully:
Ah, that is the perfume in which I delight;
when they roast coffee near my house,
I hasten to open the door
to take in all the aroma.
I can imagine the smell of freshly roasted coffee taking hold of the mind, flooding it with ideas and dreams of worlds that don’t exist, words blooming on the white pages like snowdrops coming out of the frozen ground. Coffee has the power to awaken creativity and helps you become a better writer. All that stimulating energy brings to life the wildest ideas!
I have measured out my life
with cofee spoons.T. S. Eliot
The powers of a man’s mind
are directly proportioned
to the quantity of coffee he drinks.Sir James Mackintosh
Coffee is a way of stealing time
that should by rights belong to your older self.Terry Pratchett
