I need ☕


Most of the time it is the most dreaded day of the week. We wish to have lingered more in the hours of past Sundays, stretching in our cozy beds, reading, enjoying a movie or sleeping more. But Life snapped her fingers, waking us up to fulfill our duties.

For days like this we need some miracle to awaken us. Luckily for us, this miracle exists and can be summoned and poured in a small cup of good coffee.

Beer for breakfast?

No, please. Just coffee.

Well, before coffee, drinking alcohol at breakfast was pretty much normal. Even children were treated with beer or cider in the early hours of the day.

The lack of safe-drinking water and little to no knowledge about water purification made alcohol a safer choice. It was served all throughout the day, even at work. Coffee replaced alcohol not only because of its rich taste, but especially for its stimulant effects. It raised the working level, as people became more alert and energetic, thus bringing a growth in productivity. Night shifts were established, keeping up the productive flow.

Is coffee our motivation to get out of bed? Or is the reason we stay awake in this nightmare?
